HOW TO MAKE A HOT TODDY, THREE WAYS: WITH SALT & CHAR RESTAURANT

This week, I sat with Wellman Loviza, Bar Manager at Salt & Char Restaurant at the Adelphi Hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY. Now that fall is here, I needed some warm drink ideas to keep us toasty at home. Wellman shared three different variations of a Hot Toddy… and each one tasted amazing!

THE TRADITIONAL TODDY

  • 1-2 TB. honey
  • 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 oz Benchmark bourbon or any rye
  • Top with hot assam tea
  • Garnish with a lemon twist

THE TROPICAL TODDY

  • 1 TB. honey
  • 1/4 oz. lime juice
  • 1 1/2 oz. dark rum (Goslings, here)
  • 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
  • Top with hot assam tea
  • Garnish with an orange twist and cinnamon stick

THE APPLEJACK TODDY

  • 1/2 oz. maple syrup
  • 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 oz. Applejack brandy
  • Top with hot assam tea
  • Garnish with an apple wheel (slices)
